so i’m sorry i’ve fallen off the face of the earth. things got really crappy for me and i had to move and now i live with a bunch of thieving burnouts, so basically anything not nailed down gets jacked and pawned for weed. nice, eh? so needless to say i can’t actually do any of my crafts anymore until i find a more suitable place to live. u___u one day i will be able to update this blog again with new things i’ve made, but i can’t say when that might be. sorry everyone.

so i happened to check Craigslist on a whim and found someone was selling a lot of 31 vintage ponies for a steal, and i just had to have them. some of these are real treasures~ some of the lot is damaged and will be added to my bait collection, but a bunch of them are just fabulous as they are and with a little TLC and some new hair they’ll be good as new!

i actually had both Sugarberry and Dancing Butterflies when i was a kid, so finding those in the lot was a real treat. and Buzzer! *A* she was my first Summerwing pony! she’ll look lovely alongside Little Flitter on my shelf once i clean her up and get her some new hair.

Lofty is one of those ponies i always wanted as a kid and never got. i guess all good things really do come to those who wait. this lot was totally worth half a tank of gas and a round trip to Olympia. *A*

also! lovely mochi sent me four bait flutters for my KH collection~ i won two on eBay via her account (cuz i have no Paypal), but the other two were a surprise! she’s the best, and i can’t wait to get started!

Aqua Pony

finished painting her! i’m really pleased with how her face turned out. now i just have to figure out how to school Ven pony’s mohawk into something more Ven-ish and finish with Lex’s mane and then i can start rooting her hair too.

also i had tried to sculpt her a spiral horn like the traditional MLP unicorns, but it just didn’t look right, so i made it smooth. i like this better somehow; i’ll prolly do the same for Larxene pony.

a friend requested some in-progress images of Aqua pony as i work on her, so here is the first batch. not so long ago, Aqua pony was Twinkler. however she felt that a yellow body and sparkly blobs that resemble amoebas was far too flashy for a pony of her disposition, and thus chose to undergo a makeover.

Aqua pony is a charming pale cloud grey color with a pearl finish, and her legs are black to imitate her tall socks from canon. she’s a unicorn, since Aqua’s main power was always her magic over anything else. she will eventually have sleeves and her cutie mark will be the keychain from her Rainfell Keyblade.

more pics to come as she progresses! also ignore my kitchen utensils in the background; it was night when i took these pics so i had to take them in the kitchen to get any decent light.

so i had a thought as i was back at the dollar store getting a few more extensions… i was planning on mixing the light and dark blonds for Roxas and Ven, since nobody’s hair is just all one flat color, really. it dawned on me as i was staring at the fluorescent colors, that perhaps this hideous neon pink could work for Marluxia if i toned it down with some of the platinum blond and the light brown, since his hair is less all-out pink and more… mauve-brown? strawberry brunet?

like idk, what would you even call that? XD

so i did a little mixing.

egads that pink is hideous.

significantly less hideous when swept up in the brown and blond and copper though.

any actual mixing will be much more subtle and have fewer big chunks of each color, this was only a quick test. not certain just yet if i can make this work for Marluxia or not, but the results were kind of pretty anyway.

it is, in fact, a mass of hair extensions i got at the dollar store. do you know what this means?

VEN PONY DOESN’T HAVE TO BE BALD ANYMORE. that’s dark brown for Terra and Olette, three varying shades of red for Kairi and Axel, light brown for Sora, golden blond for… frickin’ everybody, platinum for Naminé, and even blue for Aqua and Saïx. ALL FOR A DOLLAR A POP. HOW COOL IS THAT?

i think i’m gonna go back and get some more, like… one more of each color or something. i wish there had been black extensions, but hey, i got just about every other color i need for the herd.

Ven Pony

oh wow i haven’t posted anything in ages, sorry guys. i’m done with Ven pony’s paintjob but i still haven’t gotten any hair for him yet. or for anybody. >/ i need my retropayments so i can actually work on the rest of these guys.

before Ven was manipulated by Master Xehanort, he was Rosedust, queen of the flutter ponies. and then MX shattered his heart and blah blah everyone is Sora blah blah blah Kingdom Hearts blah darkness blah blah blah.

anyway, ah… i originally gave Ven a horn but decided against that. Aqua will be the unicorn, Ven the pegasus, and Terra the earth pony. i painted him green and yellow like his wayfinder, and put Terra and Aqua’s wayfinders on his non-display foot. his cutie mark is the keychain from Wayward Wind, and he has the Eraqus emblem on his brow. i’m really pleased with how his face came out—he’s really cute.

i have base ponies for my whole collection except two. i’ve got the whole Organization including Xion, Terra-Ven-Aqua, Sora and Kairi—i still need a Riku base—and even three babies for bitty!SoRiKai. i’ve also got one for Namine—Wingsong is perfect, and one for Isa… i think i need a Cloud Puff pose for Lea, so i still need to get that.

i need to make Xaldin’s hood. i’ve got the fabric and zipper for it i just haven’t gotten around to making a pattern.

i’m also thinking of doing the YuRiPa fairies in baby pony form since they’re all bitty. whaddya think, guys? ~~i also have one more spare baby i can mod—a unicorn. thoughts on who i could make?~~ OMG I’M TOTALLY MAKING IT VIVI. WITH A BIG DUMB HAT AND EVERYTHING.

Lexaeus Pony

i have way fewer pics of Lexaeus Pony, mostly because i painted him all in one night when i should have been sleeping. once upon a time, Lexaeus Pony was Tex, a Big Brother pony of a pleasant yellow color but with screaming pink and blue hair. when Tex lost his heart, he became Lexaeus Pony.

his cutie mark is a link puzzle from the Days manga. i didn’t want to just have their marks be their weapons, so i’ve had to get creative. i also need to paint that Nobody symbol on Xaldin’s nose—all the core six Nobody ponies will have them, and the Neophytes will not. i’m in the process of rooting his hair; i found some curly brown doll hair, and my goodness it is a huge pain. i’ve discovered that rooting pony hair of any sort is a huge pain, but curly hair is especially cumbersome.

more pics once he’s no longer got half a pompadour wig going on.

also i figured out how to allow comments! :D anyone have any thoughts?

Xaldin Pony

so sorry folks who had been following me before… i just couldn’t stand the primary-secondary blog crap, so i had to start over. i’m sorry! i had eleven followers and i feel terrible for deleting the blog, but… i think i have a better grasp of how tumblr works now, so maybe i won’t fail so bad at actually posting pics this time.

all righty then, here we go. Xaldin Pony Take Two!

Xaldin has lost his head. okay anyway. once upon a time, Xaldin Pony was Steamer, a big brother pony of a rather emasculating shade of pink. after a repaint, he is a much manlier blue. his wings were sculpted from molds of G1 wings, and attached with superglue.

braaaaaains. also note my lovely little cucumber plants in the background there.

i haven’t been able to find any wigs to cannibalize yet, so i don’t have any hair for my ponies… but i found this great yarn at the craft store that seriously looked like dreadlocks. and it was only 99 cents! so that’s why Xaldin became my first project.

rooting hair is a pain in the ass, let me tell you. rooting thread to tie yarn hair that is too thick to root? that’s a special kind of hell. @_@

but the end results came out pretty nice, i think. i didn’t even have to root the entire length of his neck—those are some thick dreads.

also tail. i realized belatedly i should have finished painting him before i gave him hair, but i got excited.

he looks significantly less creepy with his eyes painted. i couldn’t get the gauged earring to work properly, though, so i just painted a silver ring around the hole. (that’s what she said.)

after adding some details to the feathers,

and some bushy eyebrows to go with the epic muttonchops (which were a HUGE pain, i might add),

a little gel in his hair and some glitter on his wings, and he is complete!

now all i have to do is make his little hood. hand-sewing is so time-consuming HNNNGH.

next up, Lexaeus!
